When I click on things I've posted on my own blog the url doesn't change to match the post, it stays the same as my regular url instead of becoming the post url. I have to open the post in a new tab for it to work. What do I do? Is there a solution, is it one of my settings?

I have no idea, I’m sorry. It might depend on your theme. On mine, for example, if I click on the chain icon at the bottom of a post it goes to the “permalink” or URL of my post within the blog, without having to open a new tab. If you have a different theme, try checking for any buttons like these on yours. This is the only thing I can think of. Maybe one of my followers knows?
