Pixar's 22 Rules of Storytelling
These rules were originally tweeted by Emma Coates, Pixar’s Story Artist. Number 9 on the list - When you’re stuck, make a list of what wouldn’t happen next – is a great one and can apply to writers in all genres.

LA LUNA
A wonderful short by Pixar that is guaranteed to warm the cockles of your heart and make you smile. The animated short is sweet and simple, but full of wonder and affection. It’s clear that this was a labor of love.
Ever wondered what it would take to bring Pixar’s Wall-E to life? Computer programmer Mike Senna shows us in this video how he spent two and a half years working on building a real life Wall-E robot. Pretty impressive work, but what really makes this video awesome is that Senna does this to benefit children’s hospitals, his own way of brightening these kids’ days. Now that’s a real life superhero.
I’m seriously entertaining the notion that Disney, Pixar, Studio Ghibli and other producers of animated films have some super secret subliminal hypnosis sequence in every one of their films because I don’t know about you guys but every time I finish watching any of their films I feel like life is amazing and full of limitless possibilities and all I want to do is burst into song because that’s how happy these animated films make me.
That is, of course, until I step out of the house.
